Yesterday, the Blue Goose Productions crew was up at Pine Tree Camp in Rome, Maine; one of our last days to film Monica as we approach finishing the documentary. The Pine Tree staff was incredibly welcoming. Right when we got there we were given a tour of the camp-- a brand new dining facility, the awesome accessible swimming dock, the cabins that sit right on North Pond (offering an amazing view no matter which one you are in), and finally the 100% accessible tree house! Needless to say, we were impressed right away.

Then we met the campers, and that was when the real fun started. Campers were zipping around in their wheelchairs, swimming in the pond, and lounging around in the sun, the perfect mix of summertime fun and "upta camp" excitement.

When we met up with Monica, it was like following a celebrity around! Campers were immediately drawn to her; "Oh my gosh, you're here!" was a common expression when she would pop in to a cabin to say hello. We spent the rest of the day with Monica as she talked to kids about overcoming obstacles, not letting a disability get in the way of going to college, growing up and finding ones independence, and living a fulfilling life. Certain campers in Cabin 3 were particularly excited when Monica mentioned the shopping trips she'll be organizing as part of her work with Ms. Wheelchair Maine the non-profit.

All-in-all it was an inspiring day for everyone and we were able to capture some great material for the film. Thank you so much to everyone at Pine Tree Camp for letting us visit! Check out some pictures on Facebook, and be sure to look for the final video in the next few weeks.
