Independent Insurance Agents with an Anti-Agency Approach
Michael Allen, President/Founder
Michael Allen started in the hospitality industry working at high-end resorts around the country and spent five years working at the Stein Eriksen Lodge in Utah. “Stein’s” was extremely valuable to Mike for their training and demand for going far beyond the guest’s expectations.
After moving back to Maine, he entered into the insurance industry where he sold life insurance for four years. He then worked at a local Medicare Advantage company as an employee sales agent where he became one of their top three producing agents in the country with among the highest quality of business. Shortly before the end of his first year with this company, he left to start Blue Goose, which is now a leader in northern New England for Medicare Advantage sales. Mike has maintained his sales approach of being thoughtful and conscientious towards the needs of the client. This means that if Mike finds that the client is in good shape with their insurance needs, he’ll let them know and walk away.
Outside of work, Mike developed a passion for sailing; he spent four summers crewing on a sailboat before moving to Utah, and after moving to Utah he would take a six-week leave of absence each summer to return to Maine to sail. He enjoys playing tennis, playing guitar, has three nieces he adores, and rides his bike everywhere in the summer.

Chris Coleman, Regional Sales Director
Chris is our regional sales director and is responsible for training and managing our entire sales team. His early professional career was spent climbing the corporate ladder at a Fortune 500 company where he gained significant experience in many professional areas such as call center operations, HR management and recruiting, managing large groups of people, and developing and implementing special community outreach programs. He has since been able to parley that experience into a career with Blue Goose.
Outside of work, Chris enjoys spending time with his wife and two adorable children. He is an avid fan of the outdoors and a regular competitor at the U.S. Toboggan National Championship held in Camden, Maine every year. Every summer, he takes a week off from work to get lost in the woods camping and canoeing with a group of buddies. We’re concerned that one of these summers Chris will forget his compass and we’ll be forced into finding a new sales director.

Paul Rees, Sales & Marketing Coordinator
Paul graduated from the University of Maine at Farmington and moved to Portland in search of big city life. He started at Blue Goose as an intern with the goal of helping the company build a web presence and expand its brand identity.
In 2010, Paul was hired as a full-time employee and has since become a key contributor to daily operations. He wears many hats from day to day and can be found doing anything from working with agents, submitting client paperwork, writing for the blog, and researching new products and companies.
